Budget friendly bolthole for exploring the beautiful island of Sao Miguel

I would grade this more as a European 3* but it still offered good value considering it's location and standard of accommodation. We had to move rooms after a few days as our original room (502) faced some outlets that omitted a nasty smell of an evening which meant we could not sit out on the balcony - reception staff speak great English and thankfully managed to swap to new room. The pools (indoor and outdoor), steam room and sauna were great but jacuzzi needs servicing as only a couple of jets actually work and was very murky. Spa treatments very reasonable and very good.
(Read a review saying you need to bring your own towels to use pools - this is not true, you can obtain pool towels from reception for EUR10 deposit.)
Didn't use restaurant but bar staff were great and food was good (chips are crisps, not fries though!)
Kitchenette is exactly that, two hobs, combi microwave and kettle - cooking a family meal for 5 was a challenge but doable with a camping style outlook!
All in all a great budget friendly base for exploring the island or taking boat trips and being able to semi self cater.

Good price-quality with parking!

We chose Hotel Antillia for it's location and mostly because of the parking on site, and we were very well surprised and satisfied with our stay. The hotel is very spacious, the room was big and also the bathroom, plenty of space! The staff was always very nice to us,
We chose Hotel Antillia for it's location and mostly because of the parking on site, and we were very well surprised and satisfied with our stay. The hotel is very spacious, the room was big and also the bathroom, plenty of space! The staff was always very nice to us, and went out of their way to give us tips and try to help us with our trip plans.
The breakfast was varied and very tasty. There was a pool, that we did not have time to use, and also a spa on site. The fact that we always managed to park our rental car on site in the hotel was a big plus. Ponta Delgada's streets are very narrow and parking can be a hassle, so we were always reassured about the rental parked in the garage. And at no extra cost!
The city center can be reached by a 10 minute walk, as well as the sea front. Tha area was very quiet, we slept very well. Will stay again when we return!

The bed is firm, when you walk in you notice a small pillow positioned on the bed, the normal pillows are located in the closet. The pillows are not great quality.

You can pay for breakfast in their dining area but it was below average quality in our opinion, the mini apartment, and nearby shops made making breakfast easy.
If you plan to swim at their pool you need to bring your own towel, we found this very strange. You need to bring a towel with you on this trip anyway if you plan to go to the hot springs/beach.
The apartment had all of what we needed to make a nice breakfast.
The AC worked well but oddly. One degree celsius difference was 10 degrees f different.
Good location, 5 minute walk to the fruit/veg market.
There is free parking but it is tight maneuvering in and out of the garage.

Lovely Spacious Room !

My husband and I spent a week here at the end of May.
The hotel is set back behind a row of houses and accessed by a narrow alley.
The reception staff gave us a very friendly welcome and always spoke.
We had a spacious one bed apartment with a small kitchenette.

The kitchenette had sufficient utensils to cook breakfast or a light lunch, but unfortunately no fish slice, so difficult to fry eggs !
The bed was comfy, the curtains kept the light out, the air-con worked well.
We did not use the pool, possibly a bit chilly.
We also did not use the restaurant, but did use the bar. We thought it was more expensive than local bars, but then aren't most hotels like this.
Hotel is nicely situated, 10 mins to city centre, 5 mins to harbour restaurants.
Ask for a higher floor to get a lovely view out over the sea.
Only downside was the changeable weather, don't leave home without a raincoat !!
Would definitely recommend.

The hotel is situated three streets back from the port of Ponta Delgado. We had a one bed apartment. The view was mainly of a wall in small rectangular courtyard. The room sufficed for a weeks holiday with a small kitchenette, fridge and two ring hob. No oven but a microwave. There was crockery for four. It was twin beds not a double as needed. The sofa was not that comfortable and had no scatter cushions.
The nice bathroom has a bath with a shower.
Reception was well manned. The receptionists being pleasant at all times.
There is an outside and large heated indoor pool. Both clean and usable.
There is limited car parking space.
Overall we had a pleasant stay. Handy as a base for the island.
