Things to Do in Krabi 

• Relax at Railay Beach: Railay Beach is one of the beautiful places in Krabi. Surrounded on all sides by tall limestone cliffs, one can only reach it by boat, making it a hidden paradise for all involved. The soft sand and crystal clear waters make it an ideal place for sunbathing, swimming or even for leisurely gazing. 

• Go Island Hopping: Krabi is near many famous islands. You can have a boat tour to visit places such as Phi Phi Islands, Hong Islands and the Four Islands. These trips are excellent for snorkeling and swimming as well as photography of the wonderful scenery. 

• Explore Ao Nang: Ao Nang is a busy town (full of shops, restaurants, and beach bars). It’s a good starting point for your Krabi stay, easy to find tours and transportation here. At day-time there is the beach, and at night, Thai food. 

• Visit the Tiger Cave Temple: This temple is one of Krabi's best cultural attractions. A great challenge for you if you are so inclined, is to take more than 1,200 steps along the steep path to the top for a breathtaking view of mountains and sea. The hike is hard but the peace and view are worth it. 

• Get a Dip in the Emerald Pool and Hot Springs: Located in a jungle area, The Emerald Pool is a swimming area of a natural spring with clear green water. Surrounding the area, the Krabi Hot Springs replete the warm relaxing baths developed through volcanic activity – ideal for relaxing after days of wandering around. 

• Try Rock Climbing: Krabi is a great rock-climbing destination, all around Railay. You are a beginner or a professional, they offer climbing tours and experts to make your adventure interesting safely.

History, Culture, and Nightlife in Krabi 

History: The history behind Krabi goes back thousands of years and is long and interesting. According to the archaeological evidence, it was very populated in the prehistoric era as it supported early human settlements in the area. Krabi grew into a small fishing and trading village, later on being influenced by Thai, Chinese and Malay cultures. Today, you can still find many of the relics of its past in local temples, ancient caves, and villages of ancient times. The most famous historic sight is the Tiger Cave Temple, a holy place with a historical, religious angle and stunning views. 

Culture: Krabi is integrating the culture of the traditional customs of Thailand and the local southern lifestyle of the Thai people. Buddhists are the majority in Krabi, and you’ll find excellent temples and spirit houses scattered in the area. Locals are friendly and respectful to visitors. The visitors need to be decently dressed when visiting religious places. Krabi also has an increasing art and food scene. You can taste lovely southern Thai cuisines such as spiced up curries and mouthwatering fresh seafood, and even enjoy local festivals where music and dance are performed. 

Nightlife: Krabi is not as busy with nightlife as Bangkok or Phuket are, but it does provide people with enough entertainment after hours. With beach bars, live music and cocktail spots, Ao Nang is the heart of Krabi’s nightlife. There are laid-back bars with views over the ocean, reggae lounges and a handful of clubs with DJs and dancing. If you want to have a more local experience, then the Krabi Town night market is a great place to shop and eat street food and have a relaxed evening out.
