During your two, three or four-night stay, you will have lots of opportunity to get to know the ins and outs of the city. Perhaps the best place to start would be with a walk along the River Douro, stopping to admire the boats in the port and spotting the street art and gorgeous hand-painted tiles that dot the city. For some spectacular Porto views head to the Sé cathedral and take in the city from its terrace, or venture to Gaia’s hilltop Jardim do Morro. Honing back in on the city, the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal are more than worth a visit - wander around the manicured lawns, giant magnolias, olive groves, sculptures and fountains, it's the perfect break from the buzz of the city outside. A spot of culture can be achieved with a visit to Museu de Arte Contemporânea and Casa de Serralves or a quick trip to the Igreja de São Francisco.
