Montecatini Terme is a historic Belle Époque spa town just like Bath, and is one of UNESCO's 11 Great Spa Towns of Europe. It is a peaceful haven away from the more crowded centres of Florence and Pisa, especially in the summer months. 

The town bubbles with fountains, grottos, and water features, and many of its grand Art Nouveau spas are still in use, including the huge Terme Tettuccio thermal complex. The older hilltop village of Montecatini Alto can be reached by a vintage funicular train, and has stunning views across the rolling hills and valleys.

Hotel Parma E Oriente is on a quiet, leafy street less than five minutes' walk from the town's main thermal buildings, as well as the vintage funicular train to the old part of town. There's a swimming pool surrounded by calm gardens, and an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your morning coffee. Breakfast and dinner are served in the main dining room and are included in the price of the package.
