Pioneer of the Italian Slow Food movement and in no shortage of fine wine, Italy's Piemonte region seems like a no-brainer when it comes to booking a foodie escape. So, when we saw this 4-star stay jam-packed with tasty extras, including a cocktail class and a tasting experience at the Museum of Beer and Cheese, we knew we were onto a winner. It's £189 per person, and also includes your return flights, daily breakfast, and travel until the end of the year—including peak summer dates.
You'll stay at the Agora Palace Hotel in beautiful Biella, a quiet city set at the foot of the Alps in Piemonte, Italy's ''most elegant'' (Lonely Planet) region filled with pretty rural landscapes and centuries-old regal palazzi. It's just over an hour's drive from Turin and around an hour-and-a-half from Milan, ideal for a touristy day out (or just some serious shopping).
The hotel's restaurant Sartoria is open daily for evening aperitivo, so you can savour artfully prepared cocktails accompanied by local cheeses and homemade focaccia. For dinner, you can dine à la carte and try the chef's own recipes prepared with high quality regional and seasonal ingredients (additional costs apply).
There's also a fitness centre at the hotel and, during the summer, guests can drink and dine at the lounge bar on the rooftop terrace; share a bottle of wine under the star-lit sky, or just simply gaze out at the stunning mountain views (additional costs apply).
Classic rooms are elegant and spacious and all come with bathtubs, flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi, and tea-and-coffee-making facilities.
Your stay also includes lots of tasty extras, including a wine tasting experience in the Medieval village of Piazzo, which you can reach via the historic funicular (just a few minutes' walk from the hotel), taking in picturesque views over the city whilst you’re at it. Plus, you'll stay a few steps from the main pedestrian street, where you can stop for some pasta in a local trattoria or pick up a sweet treat from a traditional gelateria.
