Geneva, Switzerland
With the snow topped peaks of the Alps, the glittering waters of Lake Geneva and some of the oldest towns in Switzerland, it’s no wonder why the area is known as the Swiss Riviera. Glimpse into the past with a visit through Geneva’s ancient Old Town, a maze of cobbled streets, gothic buildings, and picturesque squares. Exploring the town’s more than 30 museums might take more than an afternoon, but the Maison Travel, the museum of the history of Geneva, is well worth a visit, as is the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire. Whisk yourself back a thousand years with a trip to the Place du Bourg-de-Four, one of the oldest and most ornate squares of the Old Town and the site of the ancient Roman forum, and don’t forget to head to the market street to grab yourself a watch, some chocolate or an army knife! No trip to Lake Geneva would be complete without a quick excursion along the serene river banks, dense forests, steep Alpine ridges or luscious vineyards of Switzerland. When it comes to nature trails and guided tours you’re spoilt for choice, and if you feel like heading further afield why not spend the day exploring the Château de Chillon, relaxing on a scenic lake tour, taking in the mountain views and sampling some cheese in the village of Gruyeres? Sounds like music to our ears!
