Copenhagen, Denmark
Make sure to visit the infamous Little Mermaid statue that sits along the river bank, the creator Hans Christian Andersen is even buried a 15 minute train ride away from the hotel if you wish to pay your respects to the infamous author of beloved fairy tales and other literary works. The Absalon Hotel is located a stones throw away from Tivoli gardens, a 19th century theme park that plays host to one of the many chirstmas markets that will be taking place in the city during your visit. The city of Copenhagen houses two beautiful castles, the Christiansborg Palace which is where parliament currently sits when it is in session. The other is Rosenborg Castle, a 17th century castle originally built as a summer house in 1606! The world's oldest amusement park can be found in Copenhagen, it too plays host to a Christmas market with many stalls for food, drinks, and of course gifts. The Copenhagen Zoo also hosts one of the city's christmas markets. There are 400,000 sparkling Christmas lights above the cosy market stands, turning a regular zoo visit into a magical experience. And of course, it wouldn't be a city break without a day of museum hopping. We recommend spending some of your time at the National Museum of Denmark, the Museum of Copenhagen and of course the Nikolaj, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center.
