Famously beautiful, Madeira is awash with dramatic landscapes, botanical richness and fascinating history. Lose the day in the capital of Funchal as you indulge in the Madeiran wine we’ve all come to love and tuck into its amazing food, including the garlic bread street dish Bolo Do Caco, fresh seafood caught from the nearby waters, exotic fruit and the long skewers of meat known as espetada. Madeira is uniquely well-suited to long walks despite being so mountainous thanks to the Levadas – open canal systems established in the 16th century to distribute rainfall. With these long pathways you’ll be able to enjoy lush countryside walks through laurel forests and across tall peaks that offer the very best panoramas of the island. The exotic Ponta de São Lourenço nature reserve in particular is filled with rare plants, red sands and immense volcanic rock, providing a hike that’ll leave you breathless in the best way possible! Come the evening, simply kick back with a chilled bevvy in hand and watch the sun drop behind the north Atlantic.
This hotel is located in the north of Madeira (in the municipality of S. Vicente, district of Feiteiras), nestled in a rural setting. The Our Lady of Fatima chapel is located about 150 m from the hotel complex, while guests will reach the town centre (Vila de São), the tourist centre, the volcanic caves, and the volcanism centre in about 20 minutes by foot. The beach, the bathing areas, and São Vincente promenade lie about a 25-minute walk away, and it is some 40 km to the airport.
