  Beyond functional; comfortable and pleasant value in central london

  Fab location to old street. Impressed with the functionality of the room . Size is small but perfectly fine as it's got everything needed when mooching around london. It's better than basic as the quality is higher than other value brands and it feels more professional.   Z's The Word!

  Another Z Hotel ticked off my list. I'm aiming to stay in all of them and I'm not Worthing my way around the London hotels. This time it's Shoreditch which is only a short walk from Old Street Station and very nice it is. It looks as if the rooms have been updated at some point as there is now a control panel for the lights and Aircon. I went for the inside Queen which does give you more floor space which is essential if there's more than one of you in the room. All the usual facilities are there and they're all perfectly clean and well maintained. Nice toiletries are provided. The cafe bar area is very nice and it's where you would have your breakfast or free cheese and wine as long as you're a Z Club member. You can also get subject to availability and early check in which is what I got and one of the best things about being a member. Going back to the cheese and wine, it says unlimited but some nights the cheese etc was lined up on the bar and on others you're just handed a plate that already has cheese etc on there so I'm not sure how that works. There are lots of places nearby where you can pick up food or drinks, Kiss The Hippo coffee over the road and Grind are definitely worth trying.   Great hotel in a great location.

  Great hotel in a fantastic location. We stayed in a Window Queen room and were so pleased with the room. I had read that rooms were small but ours was just right for what we needed and certainly plenty more space than I expected. The room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom had shampoo and shower gel. There was a hairdryer in the room and tea/coffee facilities along with a bottle of fresh water. The lighting and air con were all controlled from a panel on the wall next to the bed, very convenient. As per some of the other reviews here, yes I could hear the trains rumbling past (we were on the 3rd floor) but it really didn’t bother me. The black out blinds were great and I had no idea what the time was when I woke up! The hotel location is fantastic just a couple of minute (at most) walk from the tube. The only negative observations I can make on the room was that there was only 1 USB socket and no conditioner but neither of these affected my stay. Great hotel, will absolutely return again.   Brilliant value hotel in a great location - bonus free cheese and a drink too! ??

  Pro’s- Great location and friendly staff. - High quality rooms - they’re small, but they list the size when you book, so it’s not exactly a surprise… - Free cheese and wine (or 0% beer if you’re alcohol free like us! ??) every night for members. - Sky sports and movies included on a whopping great TV for the size of room. - Tea and coffee facilities are good quality. - Shower products smell nice. - Full blackout blinds mean it’s darker than the dark side of the moon. Cons- The room we stayed in had some black mould around the windows (both the original exterior windows and the newer, interior windows). - Soundproofing isn’t as good as some other places. - The Air Con seems to have gained sentience and decides when it wants to be on and off ??   May seem like it, but not a good value for money at all

  We stayed in a room without a window for five days. But that wasn't what made the experience claustrophobic and just overall depressing. The air inside the room is so dry and hot it's difficult to breathe properly (especially during the night). The relief of breathing the humid cold air of London after hours inside that room was immense. But that's not the biggest problem. There are plumbing noises and the room's exaustor going all night long. You'll also hear the tube. You must have ear plugs or you won't sleep. More on that, there's a persistent green light in the room which does not turn off. The toilet which is next to the bed does not flush the paper down, no matter how much you try. And the cleaning was much to be desired. We accidentally dropped a little coffee on the duvet and it stayed there for the five days. No vaccuming for the five days either. Don't get me wrong. The area is one of the best in London. I used to live nearby, so I knew I wanted to stay there, and London is very expensive especially during Christmas time, but I wish we would have chosen something else. Don't be fooled. This is not good value for money. It's good to get a good eight-hour sleep while travelling and in this hotel that won't happen.
