  Our stay at Grand Sunset Princess was disappointing, especially as a family with children.The biggest issue was the attitude of the staff toward non-Spanish-speaking guests. Service often felt noticeably better for Spanish speakers, while we were frequently ignored unless we tipped. At times, it seemed that even basic service depended on giving a dollar or two.The resort offers very little daytime entertainment for children. The kids club is small and very basic, with only a handful of children participating. The children's water park also lacks adequate shade, with only a few umbrellas available for dozens of loungers.The buffet restaurant service was particularly poor. On one occasion, a waiter took my husband's coffee cup from our table and gave it to a Spanish-speaking couple sitting nearby. When we questioned him, he denied it and casually pointed out that we still had other cups on the table. We found this rude and unprofessional.Another disappointment was that after using the water slides, our swimsuits developed strange white stains that were very difficult to remove. Although the slides were fun, the lower white slide for the little kids was not comfortable at all. While sliding, we felt something sharp cutting us and it was pretty painful. To be fair, there were some positives: the pool water was pleasantly warm, the food selection was decent, and our renovated room was nice. However, these positives did not make up for the poor service and lack of family-friendly activities.We have traveled to many countries and resorts, and unfortunately this experience left such a negative impression that our first trip to Mexico will most likely be our last.   We stayed at Grand Sunset Princess from June 12 to June 17, 2026, and unfortunately, this was the worst resort experience I’ve ever had.Our problems started immediately after check-in. We were not taken to our room until the shuttle was completely full. It felt like guests were not welcomed at all. Most of the staff seemed irritated and showed very little interest in doing their jobs.After waiting about 15 minutes and asking when we would finally be taken to our room, we were eventually transported there. However, our luggage was left at the reception desk.We waited nearly two hours for our bags. Eventually, we went back to the lobby to find out what was happening. A staff member with a very unfriendly attitude carelessly threw my suitcase into the shuttle. We got in as well, and he ended up dropping us off in the wrong location.I should also mention that we were not offered any welcome drinks, which is normally expected at a 5-star resort.As a result, our first day was completely ruined and left us with a very negative impression.The rooms themselves looked decent and relatively modern. However, there were some strange design issues. For example, in some bathrooms the door opens inward and nearly hits the toilet seat, making it very inconvenient for larger guests.The pool closest to the beach was extremely dirty. There were constantly cups, debris, and dead insects floating in the water. Pool cleaning usually started around 11 AM, when many guests were already swimming. The water itself did not seem particularly clean.There was also a staff member spraying strong chemicals around the pool area while people were swimming. It appeared similar to an industrial cleaning product, and the liquid would run directly into the pool. Children and pregnant women were swimming there at the same time, which was very concerning.Another employee used a blower to remove dust around 10 AM every day. He did not seem to care whether guests were relaxing nearby. Dust and dirt were simply blown onto people’s belongings and lounge chairs.The juices served throughout the resort tasted like water mixed with syrup rather than real juice.There were very limited non-alcoholic drink options. Even a simple virgin mojito was unavailable.The bars were constantly overcrowded and chaotic, making it difficult to get a drink.The lack of drinking straws was also surprising.There were very few attractive photo spots around the resort compared to other destinations we have visited.Overall, this resort does not justify its price and certainly does not deserve a 5-star rating.My rating: 2/10.   As always - FANTASTIC - The renovations are wonderful !!

  I have had the pleasure of staying at GSP many, many times. I enjoy the Platinum accommodations because you can always move to the party areas and of course there's the Platinum area on the beach. The renovations are very impressive, I so enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant Sumauma. As always the service by all was friendly and helpful. Walking first thing in the morning, you can encounter so many types of wildlife because Mother Nature is alive and well at GSP.Thank you so very much....see you again very soon !   Cannot fault anything. Hotel is beautiful, the grounds are stunning, lots of wildlife, birds, deer, iguanas, monkeys. Plenty of bars, lounges and restaurants. All staff have been attentive, efficient and friendly, noting is too much trouble. The rooms are spaces, stylish and a/c is very welcoming.The hotel run a frequent golf buggy ‘bus’ from one end of the property to the other, which is great as it is so hot! The beach is close with a lovely beach bar, towels/sun loungers freely available. Unfortunately there is a problem with seaweed, but if you walk further down the beach it’s better.
