Welcoming & Beautiful Japanese Hotel

If you want a very clean, welcoming, and traditional hotel, please come to Hotel Resol Muromachi Shijo. This property is so clean that you almost feel bad just entering the room (note: love that you need to remove your shoes in the tatami as it prevents it from getting gross and is a practice we already do at home). The rooms are small compared to the big treasuries of Anglo rooms, but there is a quaintness that is very welcome. No microwave, but a nice refrigerator to store your bottles & bottles of water that this hotel provides free of charge. The towels, water, liners for trash cans are brought daily in a little bag; I’d say 80% of the time, I didn’t even need to touch it. The bathroom doesn’t have a lot of shelf room, but it’s CLEAN, water is hot & pressure is great, and well lit. There is a hair dryer, multi use power cords, a humidifier, and two sets of pajamas ready to use. Amazing and so welcoming!The staff - they are young & energetic, very respectful, and nice people! Terry is amazing and I think we plan to add him to our family, lol! There is a counter near the elevator with amenities you can merely take (but don’t be greedy, folks) - toothbrush, toothpaste, q-tips, etc. Coffee is also available as well as water with ice. Two dryers and two washers are next to the elevators - they work well and love how you have it clean itself before you place your clothes in there. Japanese ingenuity cannot be beat!I will miss this hotel, but do plan to return and will definitely recommend this hotel to all!

Don't appreciate the attitude of the guy manager at front desk

There is no phone in the room to call front desk. It was 11:30 pm and I wanted to ask for the breakfast time and additional water. I put on the slippers provided by the hotel which I never wear in the room because they said no shoes on their tatami floor. When I was downstairs there was nobody at the front desk. I asked around and a gentleman emerged from the side door with a mask on. I asked if I could have additional water. He said no, only two bottled water is provided per day and he said "vending machine please". It was 11:30pm. If I pushed for it I could argue the water could be counted as the next day's. I then asked when is breakfast, and he said at 7. As I tried to read the breakfast sign he asked me to stop and said no slippers here at the lobby with an attitude. To be honest, if you have a phone in the room like every other hotel I didn't need to come downstairs at all.There was also no sign at the all about the slippers could not be worn outside the room. The corridors and downstairs are all quite clean. I respect the rules of the hotel but I really don't appreciate to be lectured in the middle of a cold night. Location is good. But I realize there are plenty of other options in this neighborhood. I will try a different hotel next time.

Great stay & fabulous service by all front desk staff especially Fumiya. He was so so helpful & able to answer all questions we threw his way & his understanding of English made it so much easier, he was an absolute delight!Hotel is located near a few subways & yet in a quiet street & surrounded by many restaurants. The hotel lobby was spacious, clean & had lovely feel & location of the hotel was perfect for us. We stayed in a Hollywood Twin Room & size was larger than most in Tokyo however in saying that not that much bigger, we had 2 medium/large sized suitcases & 1 carryon & we managed without any issues as we only ever went back to the room to freshen up or sleep. Room was also very clean, with clean towels & bottled water provided daily.They provided free coffee & ice in the lobby & had a laundry room which were all well maintained & super convenient to have access to. Would definitely recommmend & would return & stay here however would definitely look at staying at any other hotels run by this group.

Nice, compact hotel in a convenient location for public transport

The hotel is located directly on the metro line from Kyoto station, which is convenient for travel to and from Kyoto, as well as any day trips. However, the location is not ideal for exploring the Gion district, and I would consider staying at the other Resol location, Hotel Resol Kyoto Kawaramachi Sanjo. Rooms are reasonably small but comfortable and our room had an extremely large bed. Bathrooms are compact. All staff were welcoming and helpful. All rooms had individually controlled air conditioning, which was very effective. Staff were welcoming and good to engage with! In summary, good value for money and an enjoyable stay.

Me and husband were so impressed with this hotel when we stayed back in March. It was traditional with a modern twist which we loved!The room was very clean and the beds were very comfy. It was the little touches that made a difference for us such as supplying water bottles daily, bathroom supplies such as bath salts, toothbrush etc.The location for us was perfect, and there was a lovely Italian restaurant at the front of the hotel which was a nice change.Would highly recommend!
