  The Hotel Room I Almost Loved More Than Kyoto

  My stay at Comfort ERA Kyoto Toji was nothing short of exceptional.From the moment I arrived, the staff were courteous, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Check-in was so smooth and effortless that I barely had enough time to admire the lobby before I was handed my room key.The cleanliness of the hotel deserves special mention. The property was spotless—so immaculate that I genuinely wondered whether I was the first guest in a newly opened hotel. Every corner sparkled. The level of attention to detail in both the design and upkeep of the room reflected a commitment to perfection that is becoming increasingly rare.Location-wise, the hotel could hardly be more convenient. Situated directly across from Toji Station, finding it was easier than locating Mount Fuji on a clear day. Even after a long day of sightseeing, getting back felt effortless.One unexpected source of fascination was the bathroom mirror. No matter how hot the shower, the mirror refused to fog up. I spent several mornings staring at it, trying to decide whether it was advanced engineering or some ancient Kyoto magic.The bedding was dazzlingly white and impeccably clean. Looking at those pristine sheets, I began to suspect that the housekeeping team might secretly employ a squadron of cleanliness ninjas. The hotel also provides different pillow options, allowing guests to customize their sleeping experience according to personal preference.The room technology was equally impressive. The television seemed to possess a level of intelligence bordering on sentience. It thoughtfully displayed Wi-Fi information when I first entered and greeted me each time I returned. The Wi-Fi itself was excellent—fast enough to upload photos, stream content, and make friends back home slightly jealous.My sixth-floor room offered wonderful views. From the window, I could see the distant hills surrounding Kyoto, the elegant silhouette of Toji Temple, local trains gliding by, and even the occasional Shinkansen streaking across the landscape like a silver bullet on an important mission.Despite being close to transportation links, the room was astonishingly quiet. With the windows closed, the silence was so complete that one could hear one's own thoughts negotiating tomorrow's sightseeing schedule. Even with the window partially open, the atmosphere remained calm and tranquil.The thoughtful touches throughout the room were delightful. Soft footlights beside the bed ensured that midnight walks did not turn into unexpected encounters with furniture. There were brushes for clothes, brushes for footwear, and even shoe wipes—evidence that the hotel cares about guests from head to toe.Housekeeping was consistently excellent. The room was refreshed daily, with fresh towels and hand towels provided each day. To my surprise, a brand-new toothbrush appeared every day as well. By the end of my stay, I felt as though I had accumulated enough toothbrushes to begin a modest dental outreach programme.Comfort ERA Kyoto Toji is one of those rare hotels that makes you look forward to returning to your room after a day of sightseeing. In fact, there were mornings when I seriously considered cancelling my sightseeing plans and simply remaining in the room to enjoy its peace, comfort, tranquillity, and extraordinary cleanliness. Only the guilt of being in Kyoto and not exploring it persuaded me to venture outside.Hotel also lends you umbrella for use on a rainy day. This is a stay I will remember for many years. Comfort ERA Kyoto Toji has mastered the art of hospitality, comfort, and attention to detail. Kyoto gave me many wonderful memories, but this hotel ensured that every day began and ended perfectly.To the entire team at Comfort ERA Kyoto Toji: thank you for creating such an outstanding experience.   Excellent Hotel and Staff

  We stayed for 10 nights at this hotel. It is centrally located to explore Kyoto/Osaka/Nara/Hiroshima. It is very convenient to the main Kyoto Train Station (15 min walk), has a bus stop just outside the door, and a regional train station across the street. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and the afternoon tea and evening drinks were ample and a great value. There are laundry machines on-site and directions to nearby ones too. All of the staff - from the front desk/concierge to the breakfast staff and the housekeeping staff were all very friendly and helpful. All understood English, too. Shopping is very close by and the restaurants nearby are worth a visit. Would recommend for sure.

  This was our best hotel stay in Japan. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, and larger bathroom than other hotels. The hairdryer included in our room was amazing. The hotels reception also has a service where you can barrow a straightener or curler free of charge, which I thought was great.

  Spent two nights here during a Japan tour. An extremely nice hotel. We had a very large room (for Japan) with modern decor--very attractive. The bed was a little too firm for my liking. Sleepwear was offered. The room had a refrigerator and safe. You had to use your key to use the elevator--nice security feature. The breakfast had a lot of weird food but I found enough. Nice self laundry which takes 2 hours total. Friendly staff. Near a mall with a big food court plus neighborhood restaurants.

  Good value, somewhat convenient but noisy if your room is roadside

  Reasonably good quality for value in this 3star hotel. Hotel staff is friendly breakfast is cafeteria style with different types of basic food to please everyone. Laundromat service is helpful too. Easy to get to from Kyoto station 1 train stop (Toji) but not a very useful line for the rest of the visits. What I did not like was the bleak area around, the 8-min walk to green metro line that was the most useful. And our room was quite noisy. Even at the 7th floor, the window not closing completely, there was really a lot of noise from the 4 lane road below.
