    Katane Palace hotel Catania - do not use!!

    Booked this hotel two rooms for one night on booking.com and paid up front - not cheap. Several days before the trip my colleague became ill. Messaged the hotel and explained the problem. Totally ignored! Tried to change the date, no availability apparently. Contacted booking.com they messaged the hotel, again ignored.DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL they take your money and then ignore you. Even the contact phone number on their website and also on booking.com is invalid, doesn't even ring!! Try it for yourself if you think that's not true.Booking.com were useless as well, basically they passed the problem back to us!! Didn't bother to help at all.

    This hotel looks wonderful in the owners' photos, full of character and Italian charm.However, in reality, it is very tired looking and not at all what we would consider to be a 4 star hotel. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the sheets are crisp, but the old shower is like something you'd get in student accommodation with plastic doors. The bedside table lamps are frayed, the wooden vanity unit is stained, and the curtains are old. Also, the beautiful courtyard that attracted us to this hotel in the first place, has a massive big metal emergency exit staircase overlooking it. This totally spoils the ambience and is omitted from all the professional photos. So, obviously it's a shock when you arrive and see what's actually there.However, the staff are very friendly and the buffet breakfast was lovely. We could choose from cereal, fruit, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, salami, cheese, bread rolls & croissants etc.

    We had a fabulous time at the Katane hotel in Catania. The staff were most attentive and made us feel special. Thanks to Santo and Letizia who went well above expectations. Santo went out of his way to help us and deserves a gold star!! Every time we had a question or problem he helped with a happy smile!

    Quiet location, but close enough to walk to the main attractions and transport hubs. This clean, we’ll run hotel had friendly, helpful staff. Room was large, clean and good value. Nice variety of breakfast options. I can’t think of any negative comments, would definitely recommend and stay again.

    The hotel is moderate by all means. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our first room was extremely noisy -401, we got a good replacement. Location is not so good. Prices are OK. Minibar was fre, but the refrigerator was not working. Should be booked only if there is no alternative
