Disappointing

We travelled as three friends and we go away every year. Room was nice but small for three adults. Pool and beach nice. Pool and bar staff exceptionally pleasant. Negatives . Safe in room didn’t work and we reported it three times but was never fixed so we were carrying passports jewellery and other valuables with us at all times. Massages were advertised and we tried to book some and to date we still haven’t got call back with appointments.Toilet paper was not replenished during the day and first couple of days the tea and milk was also not replaced. A group of about 15 youngsters arrived last couple of days and were extremely loud , their terrace opened onto pool area so it was impossible to escape the noise . Overall disappointing stay .

The perfect honeymoon hotel by the sea!

The perfect honeymoon hotel! We had such a wonderful time in Alghero and Hotel Calabona! The old town is an easy 20minute walk from the hotel and is delightful, with lovely restaurants everywhere, especially overlooking the sea at sunset. The shuttle was very helpful for getting in quicker too. Our room was great with a stunning view out to sea from our balcony, which we very much enjoyed with our complimentary honeymoon Prosecco that the hotel kindly gifted us!The pool and sun loungers were very relaxing, as too were the spa facilities!We both also loved the breakfast, which had plenty of options and was great every morning!Thank you for a fantastic week!

Brilliant stay, but paying for ice !! :-(

Lovely staff, super friendly and helpful, only bugbear was having to pay for a glass of ice in the hotel bar ...€3,,!! For paying guests, providing a service like ice FOC should be possible..!! I wasn't looking for a bucket of it, just a glass, was shocked TBH, never had to pay for ice ever before in a hotel bar, please Calabona reconsider this policy..!! Otherwise highly recommend....will be back

Lovely, clean hotel overlooking the sea

We loved our stay in sardinia at the hotel calabona. The rooms were clean and airy & our balcony overlooked the sea and swimming pool. An excellent breakfast with lots of choice and local specialities was provided & the evening meals were delicious. The staff were so friendly & helpful. Would definately visit again.

The approach to this hotel at the moment is spoiled by building work and derelict looking buildings which initially make you feel you’ve made a mistake.However once you are at the hotel proper and as long as you don’t have one of the rooms overlooking the building site there is no need to worry about it. The approach from the rear brings you up some steps to a large swimming pool and a large seating area with sun beds, tables and chairs and an all day bistro / bar and then the rear entrance to reception.Parking is either free on the seafront with access past the pool or 15 euros per day at the other entrance to the hotel which is harder to find but right in front of the main doors so easier with luggage .All of the staff we encountered were keen to help and friendly which is a great help to the overall feel of the hotel.It would appear the hotel had gone through some refurbishment with some original rooms and others more modern. Our room was an excellent, very clean and modern suite with a double balcony and two bathrooms which we really liked and in comfort ranks very highly against others we have stayed in at other hotels.Bed was comfortable and the room was extremely quiet all the time especially during the night. It didn’t overlook the pool area which may have had more noise at certain times we felt so choose your room according to your individual needs. The breakfast was a decent spread in a large comfortable room again with friendly staff.There was a free shuttle at key times through the day into the main part of Alghero or a pleasant 20 minutes walk at a decent pace.This hotel suited us for the purpose of our visit and we had a very comfortable stay.
