    While the hotel is a little distance from the downtown area, it is walkable and public transportation is convenient. For our stay, this was just fine.

    The Hotel La Fortezza provided the ideal base for able-bodied visitors to tour around the centre of Florence by foot, but equally on the outskirts to avoid the large amount of tourists.

    Excellent hotel with friendly staff. Excellent breakfast choices. Room beautiful and clean. Easy to get to - only 2 stops on the tram from the train station

    Hotel La Fortezza is situated in an ideal, peaceful location just outside Florence city centre but just a 5 minutes stroll from the tram stop for the journey to/from the airport and 10 minutes from the main train station and bus terminal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean and the bed comfortable. We did have to turn off the air conditioning because we couldn't work out how to control the room temperature. Breakfast was lovely - plenty of choice. All the city centre attractions are within easy walking distance. We even found the bus to go up into the hills to Fiesole, which is an interesting archeological site with a great view of Florence.

    Excellent hotel, away from the busy centre which suited us but still within easy walking distance to the centre.
