    Great Stay

    rating26 Jun 2026

Stayed two nights at O’Donnabhain’s. Jer and the team were very welcoming and provided an excellent service. Great atmosphere. Good size room which was very clean. Breakfast was great. The only issue we had was our room was at the front of the premise over the bar. It was very noisy well into the night. It might be worth warning customers that it will be noisy in the evenings.

    Bedbugs on our Honeymoon :(

    rating31 May 2026

I almost never write such negative reviews but I feel the need to warn any other traveler of this place. My husband and I booked two nights at O Donnabhain's for our honeymoon. This was our first stop. We ended up getting a delayed flight and missed the first day. When we called they said we'd have to pay for the first night since it was a day of notice. Completely understandable, however their email claims you can cancel day of for a cancelation fee.Regardless they seemed nice and we were willing to eat the first night costs to stay here our second night. We checked in, went sightseeing, then enjoyed the live music until the bar closed. We got back to the room at 2am.And found bedbugs. One alive crawling on my arm, few dead in the mattress, rust color stains on the blankets, mattress and pillows. We immediately ran and went to the only worker still there. He informed us that they had no other rooms. The sister hotels were all booked. That they could do nothing for us at 2am in the middle of the night. He said he had no solution. We spent the night in a car we ended up renting. Our first night of our honeymoon and now our entire clothes could be contaminated for our 2 week trip. When we came back the next morning to inform the manager and give back the keys, she didnt seemed concerned in the slightest. She said she looked and didnt find anything (which is alarming because we had photos and the evidence was still there). It was obvious she didn't know what to look for or do. At no point did she mention stripping the beds, bug bombing, anything. Just said "oh, we didnt see anything. I'm sorry you did. We will refund you one night."Refunding us one night (not even the entire 2 nights) isnt enough for making us sleep in the streets on our first night of our honeymoon.I hate writing reviews like this, but I feel compelled to warn any other travelers thinking of staying here. This place is not clean, they do not take bedbugs concerns seriously, there was mold in the room and overall it just seemed like a place trying to make as much money as possible on unexpecting foreigners.Do not stay here. Jeremiah Foley, Owner at O'Donnabhain's Townhouses & B&B, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and congratulations on your honeymoon — we're genuinely sorry it got off to such a difficult start. To clarify the first night: when your husband called, we were told you weren't feeling well and were staying on at your previous accommodation — there was no mention of a flight delay. We did our best to resell the room at short notice to minimise the charge, but unfortunately weren't able to. Regarding your concerns about the room: we take any report of this nature extremely seriously. The morning after, we thoroughly inspected the room and found no evidence of an issue. We also arranged for our professional pest control company to conduct a full inspection that same Sunday — they too found no sign of any infestation. We processed a full refund for your second night as a gesture of goodwill because we wanted you to have a positive experience in Kenmare. We are glad you enjoyed the live music in the bar until late, and we stand by the cleanliness and high standards of our accommodation. From Jer and the team at O Donnabhains.

Delighted 4 night stay at O’Donnabhain’s in May

    rating15 May 2026

O’Donnabhain’s was an all hit for our family of 3 adults. Check-in welcoming & duly informative. Rooms are modern, bright, clean and accomadating for long stays like our 4 nights. Plenty of towels & hot water. Breakfasts full & nutrious with a plus. The dining area is an extension of the original old bar and its happy ambience. Dinner is fine too. We've been very pleased to say our Kenmare days had O’Donnabhain’s in which to take our rest. ODonnabhains, at O'Donnabhain's Townhouses & B&B, responded to this review Thank you for your reply, Timothy! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your family had such a great stay with us. It sounds like you enjoyed the modern comforts of our rooms and the hearty breakfasts we pride ourselves on. We're glad you felt the happy ambiance of our dining area too! It was a pleasure having you, and we hope to see you back in Kenmare soon. From Jer and the team at O Donnabhains.
