This romantic hotel is located in the old city center which is the favourite part of Reykjavík. It lies on Aðalstræti, one of Reykjavík’s oldest streets, in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764. On either side of it, new buildings have been built in the likeness of their historic predecessors Fjalakötturinn.

The hotel was built in 1764. The hotel has a lift and features 89 non-smoking rooms. The reception desk is open round the clock. A cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a currency exchange service are available. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas (no extra charge).     We spent three nights here last month and enjoyed immensely. The location is terrific and the staff are exceptional. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet - exactly as we wanted! We walked to the wharf, shopping and restaurants. Even our tour pick ups were close by. So convenient. Upon returning home, I realized I was missing a piece of jewelry. In a panic, I emailed the hotel and they responded saying they would look into it. The next day they emailed me saying they found it!!!!!! Restored my faith in humanity! They worked with me to return it and I have to say how appreciative I am for the terrific people who work there! So highly recommend this hotel!

    The location was easily within walking distances to all sites. The room was quiet and comfortable. The only issue was a small shower, but we adapted. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

    Traveling by myself, without a car, I found the hotel to be in the perfect location for me to get around and walk to where ever I needed to get to.

    This is a wonderful hotel - centrally located in Reykjavik. The room was very nice and the staff were truly wonderful. They suggested and arranged an itinerary for me as a first time visitor. I wanted an actual hotel with staff rather than a guest house/apartment for this visit - and I was very pleased with the Centrum. and the breakfast buffet was great!
