  Excellent choice for Reykjavik hotel

  I went with a friend to Iceland for eight days and stayed at the Fosshotel Reykjavik in two different rooms — we split out stays with a two day tour of the South Coast. I messed up the dates, not once, but twice, and the staff at the hotel could not have been more gracious, especially Maciej at the front desk. I felt ridiculous after the second time, but he was kind, courteous and professional — and most importantly, fixed my self-created problem.The rooms are a nice size, and there's a good restaurant on site (which is a relief when you are so tired after touring around that even going out for a ten minute walk to a nearby great restaurant seems like too much). The hotel is not in the center of town, so it's quiet, and our first room overlooked the ocean, which was a bonus. If I go back to Iceland, I would definitely return to the Fosshotel Reykjavik. Please note, however, that they have three or four other hotels in town, so there could be some confusion.

  Clean and Cozy steps from Downtown.

  Location is just a short walk to downtown. The rooms were cozy and clean, with heated floors in the bathroom.The only "issue" was no private parking on site, but there are ample public options nearby.

  This is not the cheapest hotel in Reykjavik, so it could be better.It is located across the street from the Polish Embassy and near the Höfði House. It's a short walk away from the highstreet.The staff at this hotel are all excellent and delivered great service. When I had questions about something they were always very helpful and accommodating.The rooms are clean, the beds have soft matresses, there is a cooler/fridge in the room, and there is enough storage for luggage. The only reasons why I don't think it's excellent are:- the thin walls where you can hear the other guests moving their suitcases around their room and open or close doors.- if you are staying more than a few days be aware that the breakfast buffet doesn't change at all. They serve exactly the same food every day. It would have been nice if they ocassionally changed one or two things at the buffet just like many other hotels do (like a different fruit, different hot food, different cheese,...)   Great place to stay!

  Great location - we walked to all sites we wanted to see. Our room was adequate size, very clean, not noisy. Staff at the front desk were so friendly and helpful. Lobby got quite busy and crowded at times, but everything moved along nicely. Breakfast offered many different items.   Poor customer service at the hotel restaurant

  The front desk staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The room was a bit spartan but clean. The problem came about when the 4 of us tried to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant. After being seated at a table we were ignored for the duration of our time there. The staff did see us but refused to acknowledge us. People who came in after us were served quickly. We had to get our own water while still being ignored by the staff. We left the restaurant and still no one seemed to care. We brought up the poor service to the front desk and was basically told that that was how the restaurant works by a first come first serve basis even though we had come in well before several other people. We had to walk in the cold weather to find a place to eat nearby. We did find great delicious Asian food nearby which was better than the fish and chips we would’ve gotten at the hotel restaurant. We definitely will never come back to this hotel again.
