Enjoyed our Stay - Good Variety for Breakfast

Enjoyed our stay. Our room on the 6th floor was clean, comfortable and quiet. Very convenient location near attractions, shops and restaurants. We included breakfast in our stay and it was very good. Especially liked the fresh fruit, fresh baked bread, eggs & bacon. They do need a new recipe for chia seed pudding as it was runny and lumpy. Having breakfast in the Sky Bar on the 8th floor was nice. They advertise a Happy Hour in the Sky Bar, but we didn't have time to try it. The Perfect Place!

For a surprise 40th Wedding Anniversary trip I took my wife to CHA for 4 nights. The main factors were Location & Amenities.One aspect faces the Harpa Concert Hall with an ongoing light show that is beautiful. The other aspect is the seafront view over the bay to Mt Esje. Bus stop #5 is opposite the hotel and the best streets for shopping & eateries are a few minutes walk away. The old Harbour area is the other side of the Harpa.The hotel was very clean throughout, and the staff were friendly, engaging and helpful. We opted for a deluxe double on floor 7 that accentuated the views. (Thanks for the celebratoory cake).Our day started in the basement. Access to the hotpool & sauna from 6am, Wellness Centre from 7. Next was breakfast on floor 8, the Skylounge. Food was tasty & plentiful. Nice atmosphere. Always opt for a good breakfast, days are busy & long in Reykjavik & Iceland. The days ended back in the Skylounge for Happy Hour; lovely staff to chat with. We saw the Northern Lights from here on our first night. So many good memories from here.My wife said "When we come back to Reykjavik, tell me we won't stay at any other hotel. Amazing location!! The breakfast was included and was exceptional. You eat facing the water and the mountains from the 8th floor Sky Bar. They have a relaxing spa with hot tub and sauna for a nominal fee. Beautiful views from all rooms. I can't say enough about this hotel!! Great Location, but the Details Fell Short

CenterHotel Arnarhvoll has a fantastic location right by the waterfront and within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and the main sights in Reykjavík. I had a second-floor room facing the sea, and the view was lovely.The room itself had a few drawbacks. Because it also faced the road, I couldn’t comfortably sleep with the window open due to traffic noise. Noise inside the hotel was an issue as well. The walls seemed very thin, and I could clearly hear people talking and walking in the hallway.The bathroom was also strangely small and not particularly functional. The shower has a curved, swinging plexiglass panel rather than a fully enclosed shower, so water ends up across the bathroom floor. A squeegee is provided, and I found myself having to squeegee the floor after showering. It worked, but it was an odd setup and not something I particularly enjoyed dealing with.My biggest frustration, however, was the handling of late checkout. I booked directly with Center Hotels, which advertises late checkout as a benefit of booking direct. I specifically asked about it when I checked in. The first desk agent seemed unfamiliar with how it worked and checked with a colleague, who explained that they just needed to confirm that a similar room was available the following night. They checked, confirmed availability, approved my late checkout, and told me they would note it.On checkout day, housekeeping repeatedly knocked on my door asking when I was leaving. The front desk then called asking why my luggage was still in the room and told me there was no note about the late checkout.That was particularly frustrating because I had gone out of my way to confirm the benefit at check-in and had been explicitly told it was approved. If late checkout is promoted as a benefit of booking directly, there should be a reliable process for documenting it and communicating it to housekeeping.Overall, the location and sea view are definite positives, but the room noise, awkward bathroom setup, and poorly handled late checkout detracted from what otherwise would have been a pleasant stay.
