Very disappointed 2* certainly not 4*

    rating15 Jun 2026

This hotel is in my opinion not 4 star, only 2 star at a push. Location is on a very dated damaged road, with flooding and many pot holes and cracked pavements. Hotel rooms are very dated and damaged. We stayed in the deluxe and it had wooden side boards in the bathroom and wardrobe that looked like it had been put together in a school woodwork lesson from wood found outside. The restaurants had food left out for hours, with many insects hovering around, not covered at any time. Limited choices for drinks and snacks. Pools has an awful scum layer on top from suntan lotion and human oils as only cleaned once a week, having salt in it not chlorine. Sun beds and bedrooms beds not the same as pictures, very dated and broken, with mites or bedbugs as was bitten everytime we layed on them. Entertainment was usual holiday entertainment can not fault it and the water ballet was outstanding. Sadly the main entertainment staff member 'John' did not like the English, discriminated towards all English we met. The serving staff were the only amazing thing here, they work extremely hard and were very kind and polite. Only thing that made our holiday bearable. Darlin Pimentel, Agency / Consultant at whala!bavaro, responded to this review Ms. Michelle,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few points in your comment to provide a more accurate picture of our services and facilities. Regarding the pools, we want to emphasize that they are cleaned and maintained daily in accordance with strict hygiene and water quality control protocols. The occasional presence of surface debris may occur due to continuous use by guests and environmental factors, but under no circumstances do the pools go a week without being cleaned, as stated in your review.Furthermore, our water treatment system complies with established standards to ensure the safety and well-being of all our guests. Maintenance work is carried out on an ongoing basis by our specialized team.Regarding the rooms and other facilities, we are continually working on maintenance and renovation programs to offer the best possible experience. We regret that certain aspects of the design or furnishings were not to your liking. We are also particularly concerned about your comment regarding alleged discriminatory treatment by a member of our staff. Our hotel promotes an atmosphere of respect and equality for all guests, regardless of their nationality. We will conduct an internal review of this observation, as it does not reflect the values we uphold as an organization. We appreciate your kind words about our service staff, who work diligently to provide friendly and professional service. We will be sure to pass on your appreciation to them.We value all feedback, as it helps us continue to improve, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and offer you a more satisfying experience.Sincerely,Darlin whala!bavaro - All inclusive

    Excellent stay!

    rating25 May 2026

I approached this trip with a simple plan. I wanted an affordable / budget cost. I wanted breakfast and some cheap beer. Anything else was a bonus. I enjoy eating at real restaurants, so I enjoyed the food provided by the hotel and also walked to the Taproom, a few other restaurants, and cafes. For the people who say it isn't on the beach, they are really just looking for anything to complain about. With the same time it would take me to get from my room to the hotel bar, I could just as easily be on the beach. They had excellent service on the beach. Strong wifi. Plenty of seats to be found and shade. It was a great stay. I would do it again. The community is safe. The staff is friendly. The beach was excellent. Darlin Pimentel, Agency / Consultant at whala!bavaro, responded to this review Dear Mr. Jaredz,We sincerely appreciate the time you took to share your experience.Thank you for highlighting the value for money, the beach service, and the convenience of our location. We’re so glad you enjoyed both our offerings and the nearby restaurants. We’re glad to hear that you found the Wi-Fi reliable, that there were plenty of seats and shade, and that you found the community welcoming. Your kind words about our team’s friendliness and the beach experience mean a lot to us.We’re so glad your stay met your expectations and that you’ve decided to return. We look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable visit.Sincerely,Darlin whala!bavaro - All inclusive

My stay at Whala Bávaro Resort was overall very enjoyable. The staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating. As someone with celiac disease, I did face some challenges, mainly the lack of food labeling at the start. However, after speaking with a chef and explaining my dietary restrictions, despite a language barrier, he went out of his way to help, even bringing me individually packaged gluten-free croissants.Although I had to take some risks when choosing what to eat, I didn’t get sick during my stay. By the final night, the resort had added labels to the main dishes, which was a great improvement and much appreciated. I do wish there had been labels on the desserts as well, as that’s what I missed out on the most. If you have celiac disease, I recommend contacting the resort ahead of time or considering paying a bit more for a place with stronger allergen awareness.Overall, the food was very good, the drinks were excellent, and the staff remained friendly throughout. The nightly 9:30 shows were a highlight, very fun, entertaining, and great for all ages. My family and I made great memories, especially at the magic show and karaoke. The host was energetic and engaging, and some shows are interactive if you’re comfortable participating, which made them even more enjoyable. The host really got the crowd laughing and dancing. For the price, the resort was a good value, and the pools were not too crowded. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Darlin Pimentel, Agency / Consultant at whala!bavaro, responded to this review Dear Venture,Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your stay at the hotel. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your vacation and that our staff made you feel welcome and well taken care of at all times. We especially appreciate your comments regarding the care you received in relation to your celiac disease. We understand how important it is to have clear and reliable information about food, and we’re glad to hear that our kitchen team did everything possible to help you and accommodate your needs. We also greatly value your suggestion regarding dessert labeling and will share it with the relevant team to continue improving in this area.We love hearing that you enjoyed the food, drinks, pools, and, above all, the nightly shows. It’s wonderful to know that you were able to create unforgettable family memories and that the entertainment helped make your stay even more special.Thank you very much for recommending us and for highlighting the resort’s value for money. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future to continue providing you with memorable experiences.Darlin whala!bavaro - All inclusive

Basic Hotel Not Located on the Beach

    rating02 May 2026

My husband and I booked this trip last minute because we wanted to get away. We checked in with a not very welcoming front desk staff. Our room was small with just one double bed for my husband and I. The bathroom had no hooks to hang a robe or used towel. There was a hair dryer but no iron and no complimentary toiletries. There was a safe and a small fridge stocked with water. We attended the buffet for our meals and the food was typical; rice, chicken, pork, vegetables, etc. It was just okay and everything was always cold. The hotel is not on the beach but on the street, which could be a little noisy and the walk to the beach was just a few steps away. The beach area seating was not very big considering the number of people staying there and it was very close to where all the boats were, which made the area smell of gasoline/fuel. The drinks at the bar were delicious and the bartenders were friendly. We were there for a week and I only witnessed beach activities twice. There was one day where there was no water and the toilet didn't always flush properly. Overall it was okay if you are looking for a short, basic vacation. Darlin Pimentel, Agency / Consultant at whala!bavaro, responded to this review Dear Terri H,Thank you very much for sharing your experience in such detail. We sincerely regret that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations, especially on a trip you planned to unwind and enjoy. We are sorry to hear that the service at the front desk was not as warm as you would have liked, as well as the issues with the room and bathroom. We take this type of feedback very seriously, as it helps us identify areas for improvement, both in terms of amenities and maintenance. As for the dining experience, we will review the quality and temperature of the food to ensure a better experience. We also understand that factors such as noise, the availability of lounge chairs, and the beach’s location can influence the overall perception, so we greatly appreciate you mentioning them.We appreciate you highlighting the excellent service at the bar and the friendliness of our waitstaff; we will certainly share your feedback with the team.We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and offer you a much more satisfying experience.Sincerely,Darlin whala!bavaro - All inclusive

    Disgusting, Disheveled and Downright Disappointing

    rating23 Apr 2026

Where do I start. From the minute we checked in it’s been one disaster after another. Staff at check-in decided my partners name was hilarious and wouldn’t stop laughing at him. It’s a rather common name and nothing unusual. They continued to laugh at this through the entire check-in process. Speaking to each other in Spanish so they couldn’t be understood. The first room we got was a joke. No room to swing a cat! No luggage storage. No place to put our belongings outside of the cases. Filthy. Noise from the road outside all night. To then go for the evening meal to be met with food that was cold when it should be warm. Most of the food was inedible and looked disgusting. Not covered in the 29 degree heat. Flies and birds all touching the food. Staff continually being rude and dismissive. Will only speak to you in Spanish. When you answer in English they just walk away. Woke up in the morning after a poor first nights sleep because of the noise around 4.30am. Tried to have a shower and there was no water. None at all from anywhere. Not approached by anyone in the hotel to advise there was an issue to only discover ourselves it was a site wide issue. No running water anywhere (this lasted over 14 hours). We saw them filling the gallon water canisters from the swimming pool, so who knows what this water was used for! Got in touch with TUI from the start, which has to be done on their app by the way which initially wasn’t working, and they have been nothing but useless! No rep at all on site. Walking around the hotel it is all rundown. Tiles missing from the pool and poolside. Unclean. Food continues to be shocking. And breakfast was no different. As I’m writing this we have been here since 21.04.26 in the late afternoon. We where moved rooms to a bigger room but this has its own issues, broken shower, bathroom floods when you use the water and the drain doesn’t drain it so you’re stood in a swimming pool, can see filthy foot marks all over the room when feet are wet so obviously not clean, door to the balcony doesn’t shut fully or lock. The list goes on. Food continues to be appealing. We haven’t eaten a full meal since arriving. Last night the fish was raw, yet hard on the outside and it was cold. It was Grouper so not supposed to be served raw. The food at the snack bar is put out at 12pm and left there till 5pm uncovered in the heat, flies and birds again all over. We are supposed to be here for 3 weeks and it’s just not habitable. The hotel was advertised via TUI as a 4* all inclusive hotel. We have since been told by TUI it is a budget hotel, they are removing it from their booking and won’t be using the hotel anymore and that we should expect what we are getting for what we have paid what do we expect? They have so called spoke to the hotel but since this we have been met with hostility by staff, stares and dirty looks, whispered comments in our direction etc. We don’t feel safe or welcomed and this is over raising concerns of health, safety and hygiene. The TUI rep who did end up coming to the hotel, to which TUI have stated this would normally not happen, seems to have made matters worse as she advised that the manager wasn’t happy with a poor review that we had clearly left on Tripadvisor. When we said yes we had she gave the most disgusted look you’ve ever seen. We are starting our third full day and just want to go home at this point. Trying to make the most of a 3 week holiday with this as the prospect is disheartening and worrying. TUI haven’t offered to move us hotel or send us home without us paying for it. They haven’t even given us the options of moving and what the supposed cost would be. The have closed the complaint and communications we have open with them and are actively ignoring messages sent through email and the 24/7 chat which is supposed to be there to help while you’re on holiday. Darlin Pimentel, Agency / Consultant at whala!bavaro, responded to this review Dear AmCr,We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we believe it is important to clarify several aspects in order to provide a balanced view of the situation.First of all, our team works every day with professionalism and respect toward all guests, regardless of their nationality or language. We categorically reject any suggestion of mockery or discriminatory treatment, as this does not reflect our values or service standards. Our staff is accustomed to welcoming international visitors and always strives to assist in the best possible way.Regarding the rooms, we offer different categories, all described according to their type and dimensions at the time of booking. When a guest expresses dissatisfaction and availability allows, our team seeks to provide alternatives, as occurred in your case with the room change that was arranged.Concerning the water supply, unforeseen external issues or technical incidents may occasionally arise and temporarily affect the service. When this happens, the hotel works with the highest priority to restore it as quickly as possible and minimize inconvenience. Under no circumstances is pool water used for human consumption or food preparation. With regard to gastronomy, we maintain internal food handling and hygiene controls. Our buffets are supervised constantly, and the variety offered is intended to suit different tastes and preferences. We understand that perceptions regarding flavors and culinary styles may vary from one person to another. We would also like to clarify that the hotel maintains ongoing maintenance and improvement programs for its facilities. As with any property in continuous operation, occasional details may arise and are addressed progressively.Regarding interactions with third-party tour operators, each agency manages its own customer service processes, changes, or claims, so the hotel has no control over their internal policies or the decisions communicated by such intermediaries. Finally, we regret that you felt uncomfortable during your stay. Our intention has always been to provide assistance and find solutions within our possibilities. We remain committed to offering enjoyable holidays to all our guests and value every comment as an opportunity to improve.Best regards,Darlin whala!bavaro - All inclusive
