Montecatini Terme is a historic Belle Époque spa town just like Bath, and is one of UNESCO's 11 Great Spa Towns of Europe. It is a peaceful haven away from the more crowded centres of Florence and Pisa, especially in the summer months. The town bubbles with fountains, grottos, and water features, and many of its grand Art Nouveau spas are still in use, including the huge Terme Tettuccio thermal complex. The older hilltop village of Montecatini Alto can be reached by a vintage funicular train, and has stunning views across the rolling hills and valleys. Hotel Parma E Oriente is on a quiet, leafy street less than five minutes' walk from the town's main thermal buildings, as well as the vintage funicular train to the old part of town. There's a swimming pool surrounded by calm gardens, and an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your morning coffee. Breakfast and dinner are served in the main dining room and are included in the price of the package.
The rooms are furnished with pieces that have been hand painted or inlaid by skilled Florentine artisans; the subtle colours of the walls, the co-ordinated fabrics of the curtains and materials, and the warm doussie parquet all create an atmosphere that is not your average hotel room.
The bathrooms were restructured using valuable travertine and other materials, respecting a period style and contributing to the Liberty atmosphere that permeates the building’s interior.
Surrounded by tropical gardens, this striking 4-star hotel in Montecatini Terme boasts a salt-water swimming pool with hydromassage area heated in summer months. The elegantly furnished rooms feature air conditioning and a satellite TV

Lovely little hotel. Room was pretty basic but clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was ok, some fruit would have been appreciated. Dinner was a little hit and miss, menu questionable. My friend and I had a message with use of the sauna, it was nice, but pricy. Super central for travelling to other places in Italy, and would stay again.
The staff here are friendly although there was the occasion Italian blip. Overall the hotel was fine, a little bit tired but an acceptable base for traveling. A couple of issues, parking we were charged 12 Euros per day to park on a fairly rough piece of ground that passed as a carpark. The main criticism would be the food, we were on a package and the food served was quite awful, one evening I had cutlet's chips and pickled onions as my choice,(only 3 choices were available) Breakfast was uninspiring we decided to ignore the hotel food and eat out. Overall a reasonable experience just about 3-star quality. Montecatini is lovely to explore however suggest you travel and explore other local towns
I was absolutely delighted with my experience at this hotel. The hotel staff are very welcoming, lovely and friendly. The reception desk take care of your every need, to make you feel at home & help you plan your trip, to make the most of what this region has to offer. The food in the restaurant, for both breakfast and dinner was plentiful, of such a high quality and delicious. The restaurant staff are very attentive and made us smile on many occasions. Our hotel room along with the hotel overall, was traditional Italian charm & elegance, very clean. This hotel is in a great location, a short walk (10 minutes) from Montecatini Central station. Where we took the train to Pisa, Lucca, Florence & Cinque Terre, the train is regular & very good value. €6.5 for a single ticket to most places like Pisa & Florence taking approximately one hour to reach your destination. We took a ride on the funicular in Montecatini, the views up there have the wow factor & are incredible to take in the beautiful Tuscany scenery. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel, we loved it and want to say a big thank you for giving us a lovely holiday.
From the very first moment the service was excellent We were greeted warmly and given all the information about our stay. Our room was available and there was a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. We had evening meals every night and the food was brilliant I follow a gluten free diet which was fully catered for and the waiter was very attentive to this and gave me the options The quality of the fish and beef was top class. There is also a nice sauna and card room This hotel is excellent value for money and well located for visiting Pisa and Florence by train and other mountain villages if you have a car. There is lots to see in the town too with a great history of the Spas and a nicely preserved one where you can drink the water. The funicular ride to Montealto is good fun too. We really enjoyed our stay here Thank you to all the family and team at Parma E Oriente.
We had 4 days at the Hotel e Oriente as part of the Travelzoo deal and it was lovely. All the staff were extremely friendly and took a real pride in making sure all the guests were happy sand comfortable. The actual room we had was in the adjacent building and the room was spacious and comfortable, with a complementary glass of bubbles on arrival and a bottle of wine in the room. The food both at breakfast and dinner was also very nice. It is a buffet breakfast with more than enough choice and the dinners always offered various options. Being a vegan, I was a little concerned if this was going to be an issue, but everynight, the waiter ensured that there was something for me and the food was of very good quality. We also got to make use of the pool and sauna, and although the pool wasn't heated, the warm weather that we had when we were there had warmed the water sufficiently to be refreshing and not freezing. Overall it is a great family owned hotel, in a very convenient location, about an 8 minute walk to the main station, close to a lovely park and all the shops and less than 10 minutes to the funicular railway to Montecatini Alto, which is a must for any visitors. The staff were all extremely hospitable and helpful and made the whole stay very welcoming. If we ever returned to the area, we would certainly return to the Parme e Oriente.
