We decided to go and visit Rome for a few days but didn't want to pay the city centre hotel prices. Smooth Hotel West popped up so we booked it. It's about a fifteen minute walk from the local train station that takes you directly into the city centre along with all the other attractions. (We bought a two day pass for a few euros and used it to travel all over the rail system.) On the first day due to the weather we got a taxi from the city centre to the hotel on arrival. This was thirty euros so from then on it was the train everyday. From the hotel to get to the station turn right out of the main entrance, keep walking in that direction until you see a McDonald's on the left hand side. From there turn left keeping McDonalds on your left and the entrance to the station is not much further up that road. Trains are quite frequent. There are plenty of supermarkets in the area to keep your 'mini bar' stocked up as it may be advertised as a bar but in reality it's an empty fridge. Suppose that's a lot cheaper than paying hotel prices though! On entering the hotel we were met by enthusiastic staff willing to help. Polite and pleasant. If you've not got a map of Rome then get one from the desk as they are free. The room was better than expected considering we had gone for the out of town budget option. Clean and well presented with a small balcony area to relax on. (Little tip if you need a full length mirror the windows outside are mirrored and perfect for posing in.) The tv is all set up for you to log into Netflix which was a bonus as neither of us speak Italian. Just remember to log out of it when you leave as that doesn't happen automatically. Bed was comfy, pillows decent and enough hanging space for all your clothes if you wanted an extended stay. Breakfast was varied from cereals, meats, bread, eggs, etc. Everything that you would expect when you travel abroad from the UK. When you leave don't forget to have a bit of extra cash ready for the 'tourist tax' that gets applied when you check out. Overall a decent place to stay if you don't mind being slightly away from the city centre and a short walk to the metro station.
I could deduct points for breakfast but nah. This hotel was just that good for my experience while staying there. That gentleman in reception was genuinely awesome hats off to u and ur amazing moustache! Sorry i ddnt get ur name but thank u for the amazing help!
Lovely friendly and helpful staff, room clean and tidy, only stayed 3 nights but will be back. Breakfast was nice, plenty to choose from whether it be eggs and bacon or croissant to cereals. Had an evening meal first night which was very nice.
I have just got back from three nights at this hotel. I booked it by mistake but I was so glad I did. It’s basic but clean and tidy with lovely staff. Rooms cleaned every day, hot water and fresh towels. Ignore the bad breakfast review - there was meat, cheese, fresh bread, fruit, yoghurt, cakes, amazing croissants. Handy for the metro. Nothing too much trouble. It wasn’t luxury but for the price it was excellent value for money.
Where do I start with this place. The shower couldn't decide if it was hot or cold, toilet continually flushed, bathroom door didn't have a lock on it which didn't matter since the handle was broken anyway and breakfast consisted of cereal and bread you may get an egg if your lucky. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. The only upside was the friendly staff who apologised for my stay and offered me a free drink as an apology I only stayed for the entire duration as I was only there for a few days to begin with, but if I was staying at this hotel any longer than a couple of days I would of checked out on Day 1,
