A real oasis in the heart of the East End. Bedrooms were very comfy and warm and breakfast had a great choice. The old building is beautiful and some of the rooms could be used just to sit quietly and read etc if they weren't being used by groups on retreat. The main sittng room had a lovely fire and was so peaceful. Reception staff can sell you drinks including wine and there are other snacks on sale too. The chapel is another lovely space and guests can attend daily services if they want to. The grounds are lovely with seating and tables and the Yurt (community cafe) in the neighbouring grounds do great coffees and cakes. Best cheesecake I've had in years. I would definitely stay again and prices were very reasonable for the quality of the surroundings. It might feel different if you were surrounded by groups - I was lucky that there were no large groups on that particular Sunday night.
Lovely apartment with two bedrooms, fitted kitchen with fridge, hot plate, tea and coffee facilities. Lovely and clean. Really comfy beds. Great selection for breakfast and drinks. Staff friendly and helpful. Two minute walk to the DLR. Perfect stay and would definitely stay again.
RFSK is a lovely place with fantastic food. The info says free parking. IT IS NOT FREE. They now use a company to manage the parking. I was told it's £2 per hr with only x4 spaces bookable in advance. This would have cost me an extra £14 but checking with the parking company all were booked. I emailed to say I should have been warned about the parking and was told that £15 for 24hrs is good value and that they have plenty of spaces. I decided not to risk it and checking the parking notices when I arrived it said 'pricing is dynamic'. I took this to mean that you wouldn't know what you were going to be charged until you got there! Indeed there were plenty of spaces. RFSK need to sort their parking out: make it clear you that you now charge. (Your TripAdvisor listing still says free parking). Tell us exactly what the price is and have a concession for those coming to an event. Make more spaces bookable. Bring parking admin back in-house - feeling that we are paying some rip off parking company really jars with the RFSK ethos. Sadly RFSK also have no appreciation of the needs of autistic patrons attending events. My plea for reasonable adjustment (an obligation under the Equality Act 2010) was ignored.
The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. We especially liked the breakfast, and the peacefulness of the place. A few good places to eat can be found a short distance away, and a shopping center is just one stop away. Transport connections to the city center also work well. I highly recommend.
I attended a Mindfulness and Song Retreat here. The retreat was beautiful with 2 amazing retreat leaders. The welcome at St Katharine was warm and the food was excellent throughout my stay. It is an amazing place to visit for quiet reflection in the chapel and grounds, or even better for a retreat. Highly recommended.
