Good beach Hotel
We went to Mitis in August for the summer holidays. To start this hotel is far from 5* it’s 3 at best. The pools are very small in comparison to the amount of people the hotel holds so you have to wake up very early to reserve a space near the pool. You are also unable to book the restaurants (you can only visit once per stay for each option) they were all fully booked by the time we arrived. The events were non existent our two young children found this holiday very boring. One of the main pools is a salt water pool which is for kids. The food is not the best, very repetitive & busy as well the wait times are long. I wish I had read a review like this before I booked because it really isn’t worth the price. Blue domes is better if you like luxury (I took a visit for a the spa) The bathroom was tiny… I mean we couldn’t move in ours at all. The room was dated… we had small ants in the room, the AC kept cutting out/tripping so the room was warm. It just isn’t what is advertised. The water park was sooo busy & a lot smaller than we thought. I would look at other options (the images paint a different picture to what you will get).
Lovely, but queue queue queue mid summer. We had a gorgeous stay last summer, apart from the busyness of the resort. It’s beautiful, we are beach people and were able to use the comfier sun beds at Domes next door and use their bar. The water is stunning. Happy memories of snorkelling-didn’t want to pay for more..water choppier by afternoon but kids enjoyed the little waves. Pool too small/busy for us- (2 teenage boys). People seemed to enjoy although lack of personal space/sunbeds. Family room lovely, loved the turquiose shutters and sea views. Spacious/clean/bright. We queued for brekkie, lunch and dinner. Food was enjoyable but was teased seeing the little Greek tavernas in pretty Kardema, But don’t want to pay more to eat after the heavy holiday all bill. Maybe I’d go Half board if doing again.. Queued for drinks at bar..a lot. There are not enough staff for people mid summer and I won’t return for this reason,,they were very over worked, I felt sorry for them wiping their brows between hoards of people waiting for drinks. This is a memory I have a few months later. Pancakes, pizza, giros tasty.. but lots of waiting. Hotel were kind when our flight was cancelled and they found us a room again 4am..(although I was just saying I was looking forward to no more queuing when we thought we were leaving). Having said all that, grateful to the hard working staff and very fond memories of a summer family holiday..and kids saying they miss it and want to go back! ..
We travelled as a couple in late September and had a brilliant stay. In short we'd highly recommend this resort - it has great pools, beach, bars and weather. There are areas of improvement that could make this stay even better. We've summarised our thoughts below into positives and areas for improvement based on our personal experience/preferences. Positives: +Beautiful hotel in a peaceful location on the island. Kardamena is a quaint local town not too far away. +The beach bar had a great selection of drinks and played good music. +Sea was calm and warm (warmer than pools at times) +There are 3 a la carte restaurants (book online before your stay). The food at these restaurants was excellent with plenty of variety. The setting was also really nice and made the dining experience much better than the buffet restaurant. +Food is available at all times throughout the day, either through standard meal times or the 24 hour creperie which was tasty. There was also pizza, gyros burgers, hot dogs available at certain times on the beach. +There are numerous pools which are well designed. They are mostly cold all day but with the hot temperature they make a nice refreshing dip. +There were enough sunbeds whilst we were there in Sepetember, with pods available too. They're comfortable too. +The entertainment team were great fun hosting various easy games whilst not being too pushy. +The WIFI was good and worked throughout the whole resort. +The staff were friendly and polite throughout our stay. +We paid for some of the water sports on the beach which were fun and well organised. Areas for improvement: -The buffet restaurant felt like a canteen and the environment wasn't as enjoyable as the al la carte. -Personally we would have preferred more meat options in the buffet restaurant. The quality of the food here also was quite average. -The beach sunbeds weren't the most comfortable and some were damaged. Blue Domes resort had much more comfortable beach beds for their guests. -The room was quite basic and not very modern, albeit it was comfortable. -The shower was poor quality with inconsistencies in the temperature and the power. It was very dated and needed a repair. -The beach was pebbles/stones which wasn't the most comfortable to walk on, although it was clean. -Winds were quite strong at times which was annoying when blowing away items around the sunbed. It was to the point where the wind was taking down the shades which had to be repaired. -Service at the bars in the evenings was slow at times. It seemed like they needed more staff. -Evening entertainment was average compared to other resorts we have been to and when it finished the atmosphere was flat, they could have kept some music on.
We stayed at the Mitsis Norida in early September. We had a thoroughly nice, enjoyable 10 days. Food and drinks were excellent at restaurants and bars. Our favourite bar was the pool bar has a great vibe to it and around it. Also the Beach bar is in a great spot for a beachside beer or Mojito. Our rooms were spacious, clean with a great view of the mountains, with the sea to the side. The pools were busy but never too crowded. There is a problem with all the pools in that they seem to have been refurbished but the floor and steps in the pools are extremely abrasive and not well transitioned. My son and others I had witnessed were treated for cuts to feet. Not good. The A la Carte restaurants were excellent but need to be booked well in advance to secure tables. Pop into Blue Domes next door for a more upmarket feel and enjoy some of their facilities too. Not perfect but overall a great stay at the Norida. A solid 8 out of 10.
- it was all in all a perfect holiday - good food and nice location, especially the a la carte restaurants at the see - good and friendly stuff - thank you - the kids club could be bigger and better for older kids
