  Comfy budget hotel at good location

  A.K.A GRAND JAPANING HOTEL Gojo NAGINATAGIRI on Google Maps. About 300m from Gojo Station (metro) and less than 1km to Shijo-dori, getting around is easy. A convenience store is around the corner and more than enough eateries are within walking distance. The tofu shop 130m to the west is a must-try but only for taking away.Using a touch-screen display for self-check-in was rather frustrating when we had to use a finger to "write" our home address instead of typing on a soft keyboard. Otherwise, checking in was smooth. Paying ¥200 per person per day of accommodation tax (Mar 2026) is mandatory. Checking out also required using the touch-screen display at the reception. Luggage storage was self-service using provided bicycle chain locks next to the reception.Our non-smoking double room was compact yet comfortable and quiet. Looked rather newly renovated (Mar 2026). The room also had a good sized TV and a mini-fridge. A microwave oven, a water dispenser and coin-operated washing machines and dryers are located in a communal room.

  Spacious, minimalist but keeping the Japanese-style tatami rooms

  We had only stayed for a few nights during our Kyoto trip and this was one of the best hotels we've booked so far! We thought it will be a self check-in as I had informed we will be checking in late, but a very accommodating receptionist had greeted us and helped us during the check-in process. Our room was huge! Loving the minimalist and traditional Japanese-fusion style of the room design with its tatami-style floor, table and cushions. Automated toilet cover, spacious bathroom as the bathtub was separate from the bidet toilet and sink. Those extra toiletries, towels and comfy linens were enough to put us to sleep right away after long walks in the city. Nearby bus and train stations, 24hour convenience store and restaurants as well. They were gracious to let us leave our luggage upon checkout for no extra charge with locks at the frontdesk. Thank you and we will definitely book this hotel again soon!

  Excellent value for money.

  Hotel in a side street near the area of, shops. Not far from metro and bus stops. Small room (but in Japanese standards), not very well exploited, a few more shelves or a few hangers would make the difference.   Awesome 3 night stay!

  So, I was a little scared to stay seeing that it’s new, and there were not that many reviews but I did not have any issues with this hotel! Check in was smooth, every thing was done electronically even the entrance to the place! Simple process enter the numbers scan your passports and that’s it they email you to get your room number and you electronic number to enter the room. Of course as with most rooms here it’s tiny! Big change from staying in the USA. But we have 2 big bags and 2 carry ons and we made it work. The bed/pillows were a little firm to my liking but overall no problems. Not sure if they had smaller towels to bathe with but they had “face towels” as the was clothes. As for house keeping you rarely see the staff but I didn’t mind i didn’t really neeed my room cleaned every day, I just put the garbage by the door as advised and that’s it!! Would stay here again.   We stayed in the hotel fro 3 nightsWe found out during our visit that the rooms are not going be cleaned at all during our stayWe made a reservation through booking.com and look very carefully at hotel policies, nothing was mensioned about cleaning the room once a week or so. We asked several times the hotel by emails and also spoke with the person in the lobby, they refused to clean the room even one time during our stay.They told us it is thier policy to clean every 3 days Unfortunately, our three days stau was not panned around thier schedule for cleaning They refused to clean our room, and asked for money to clean it Please be aware, There are better hotels and more affordable In addition, to let you know There is no storage place to keep luggage in the last day. If you have late flight or leave, you cannot leave your luggage, since there no room for it This hotel should not be called hotel, it is barely hostel ?????? ????, ???? at M's Hotel Gojo Naginatagiri, responded to this review Thank you very much for staying at our hotel this time.
