Overpriced, uncomfortable and misleading

We were travelling around Croatia for several weeks and stayed in dozens of hotels and Airbnbs. This was by far the worst place we stayed in – and calling it a “hotel” is extremely generous.First of all, it isn’t really a hotel at all. There is no reception, no staff on site, no cleaning, no bed linen or towel changes. During our four-day stay there were constant problems and getting hold of anyone was very difficult. When we finally did manage to contact someone, nothing was ever resolved.Several appliances didn’t work properly, and there was a persistent bad smell in the bathroom throughout our stay. The building is on a very busy main road, which you might expect in a city, but on top of that there were extremely loud municipal folk music concerts taking place right next door, continuing well past midnight. Sleep was almost impossible.Breakfast being “included” is also very misleading. What you actually get is a piece of paper allowing one hot drink and a single toast at a nearby pizza place about a 10-minute walk away. The place was always empty, full of flies and hardly the breakfast experience you’d expect when it’s advertised as part of your stay.However, none of this was the worst part. The worst part is the apartment itself. The slanted ceilings are so low that you literally cannot stand up – and I am only 5ft 5. You cannot walk around the room. You have to crouch to reach the fridge or table and you can only get into bed by crawling. I am not exaggerating. We left with sore heads and bad backs after just four nights.It was uncomfortable, impractical and honestly quite shocking that this is rented out without very clear warnings. If you are over four feet tall, avoid this place at all costs. Awful experience and absolutely not worth the money.

Lovely villa. Great location. Close to the beach and restaurants and really close to the bus stop to get into Dubrovnik . Beautifully clean. Perfect service. Would definitely recommend.

NO CLIMB

This was a great choice for us and what we hadn't appreciated is that it's on the flat in a place where most accommodation comes with a climb. Luxurious at a great price .. everything was high standard and lots of extras. A short walk down the lane from the villa brings you to the tree lined vibrant avenue of bars shops cafes and restaurants that leads to Lapad beach. Here's where you come for a delicious generous breakfast. And Anita. There to see you do not have a second's stress. We felt we'd won the holiday lottery and will be back in a heartbeat.

A hotel that truly stands out

This hotel genuinely stands out from the rest. From the moment we arrived, Anita’s warm welcome was remarkable; I would rate her service as excellent.We stayed three days in Dubrovnik, and we couldn’t have made a better choice. It’s a small hotel with a pool and every detail carefully taken care of. The rooms are very spacious and come with a terrace.The hotel is quiet, the rooms have a fridge (perfect for picking up something at the supermarket right across the street), and there is also parking available, which makes everything much easier.The location is ideal: very close to the promenade filled with restaurants and just a 10-minute walk to the beach.All in all, a fantastic option. I highly doubt anyone would regret staying here.

I came here for my 50th Birthday with 6 other friends and had an absolute blast! When we arrived we were greeted by the wonderful Anita, she was so kind and took such care to talk us through where everything was and how it worked, I cannot praise Anita enough, she goes above and beyond to ensure your status as good as it could possibly be. We had the 2 apartments at the top of the villa, they were immaculate and just so well equipped and comfortable, beds and amenities were fabulous. The villa is perfectly situated in Lapad for walking distance to restaurants, shops, beach and marina, so you can be anywhere you want to be quickly, and you have a choice of a hyper market and supermarket opposite. The villa has a lovely garden and pool area, but it’s part of the Hotel More business, so you can use the pool and dinners at the hotel and Cave bar too. I honestly cannot recommend Villa Filaus and Anita enough, I will definitely return and stay again!
