Good beach Hotel
Beautiful hotel. Stayed here as our first stop on our honeymoon and it was a great first hotel. Rooms are VERY small (the one we got) but they do have larger suite style rooms. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful - we were lucky enough to be able to check in a bit early after an overnight flight which we were very grateful for! Pool area is really nice and great after a long day of exploring. They have free parking if you are renting a car. Hotel is a bit out of the way from many other more tourist hotels but we found the location to be good. Would recommend.
For the first time travelling to Azores, I booked months in advance and the rates were excellent for my needs. The staff are amazing and extremely helpful, especially the receptionists. The hotels' location is in the perfect area to walk amongst the city. The view from my hotel room is stunning every single day despite the weather conditions. Watching the sunrise and sunset every day and night with a huge mountain behind the main city brings lots of peace and tranquility when having moments like those. Everything is close by and it's not that difficult to navigate around. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who comes here! Mayn people speak a good amount of English or just enough to converse. The food variety is delightful and very tasteful.
We chose this hotel because of location and the pools. Outdoor pool was great and so was location, but the indoor pool was a bit cold. We enjoyed delicious fresh fruit every morning in the breakfast buffet, and our 2 room apartment was just perfect for the four of us. The pool bar served some nice snacks and drinks and staff was very friendly and helpful.
Antillia's facilities - pool, spa, fitness center - may put this in a 4-star category, but our room definitely was not at that level. I booked Antillia through an Azores tour operator and I trusted their judgment on this being a 4-star hotel, based on a wonderful experience we'd had in Terceira last year. I was expecting something comparable. I don't know if we were put on the "package traveler" section of the hotel - we had to take two elevators to the lobby area and were some distance away - but there was no coffee maker or kettle, no mini bar (despite a listing of items on the desk), no toiletries aside from a body/hand/hair gel, and despite asking for a double room, we were given twin beds. Which were pushed together, but made up separately. It's not the same. I was surprised when I saw housekeeping staff leave a room with a kettle, so maybe some rooms have a coffee/tea-making setup. Breakfasts were sumptuous but were not included in our rate. I know that's an issue for the tour company and not the hotel. The best part of our room was the balcony. The room was clean and tidy, but no frills. The reviews calling this a luxury hotel - I'm not sure where that comes in. I joked to my husband that it would be easier for someone to get their legs waxed at Antillia than to find a cup of coffee : ) Check out Apito Dourado down the street for a great meal!
We stay at that hotel every time we come to Ponta Delgada - clean, well maintained, located at the best place. It has a good restaurant, bar, sauna, Turkish bath, indoor and outdoor pools, free parking, lots of public spaces etc. Rooms are big enough, all amenities are new and convenient. Lots of great restaurants nearby, Graca market and famous cheese market just a couple of minutes by walk. Very friendly and professional stuff: Helena, Ana, Erica, Diana and Bruno made our stay very comfortable, they were so helpful! Special thanks to Fernanda who helped us making all necessary changes with our reservation when SATA changed our flights. Great place to stay, highly recommended.
