Best Western Zaan Inn

Just back from a 3 night stay at the Best Western Zaan Inn in Zaandam. This is a really nice hotel but what makes it special is the staff. They are polite, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We found it to be clean and nicely decorated and the rooms had everything you needed. We booked bed and breakfast and were not disappointed. There was plenty of choice if you wanted cooked or cold and a great variety of drinks. No matter what time you arrived for breakfast there was always plenty and if anything was running low the staff were more than happy to provide more. Zaandam is a lovely area well worth exploring and ideal as a base with the hotel only a few minutes walk to the train station where you can easily jump on a train to Amsterdam Central and also the airport. All in all we had a great time and would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to Zaandam train station which has really convenient and frequent links to central Amsterdam, the airport and beyond. There is a supermarket between the station and hotel, great for grabbing drinks and snacks, but on the other side of the station there are lots of eateries and shops. We stayed in a double comfort room which had a very comfortable large bed, a fridge and a hairdryer. The shower had power to it and the bathroom was a good size. Although a bit tired looking around the edges, the room was clean and serviced everyday. There was no carpet so I recommend taking slippers if you’re not keen on walking around bare foot like me. The only real negative was that the air con in our room didn’t work, we asked for fan instead but unfortunately didn’t get one, however the windows opened up which allowed air to circulate in the room. This was only a minor issue for us and didn’t take away from our stay. The staff at the hotel were really great, I wish I could remember the name of the young blonde man who checked us in on our arrival on the evening of 30/06/2024. He, and his female colleague were super friendly and we couldn’t have wished for them to be more helpful and welcoming. We would stay here again, mainly because of the convenient location and great staff.
