11 Nights - Cairo, Hurghada & Nile Cruise W/ Tour & Air

I’ll start with the bad; I paid for a premium room and was given one that was “refurbed” and was tiny. The air conditioning unit sounded like a jet engine snd the control box was hanging off the wall. The balcony had two chairs and a table squeezed into the smallest space I’d seen for a balcony. You couldn’t actually use the thing as there was no room. My son (who has autism) also struggled to even get to the room without help. This was due to the spiral staircase and no hand rail for him to hold on to, so he had to be assisted. We informed management and were told to return next day, I returned and was told to come back later as the new room still wasn’t ready. Bear in mind this is technically the second day due to arriving late the first night. We were eventually given a new room at the new area, but again with a spiral staircase and no hand rail and also just one double bed for my son and myself. Room changed again and this time finally it had stairs my son could walk up and down unaided and two beds. I went to move my stuff from the old room, it was now 21:00 and we hadn’t had dinner, only to find that I’d been locked out my old room with my belongings still inside. I ended up walking over 22,000 steps back and forth trying to sort this throughout the day and had had enough. Luckily when I went back to reception Beshoy Khalaf and Farag Saad were there and sorted everything out. These two are fantastic and we would end up chatting with both throughout the rest of the holiday. It’s just a pity they weren’t working during the day, as I think they’d have sorted everything more professionally than the day staff. Instead I had the angry guy who criticizes guests in Arabic. The good; If I didn’t have that experience the first 2 days I’d have given the hotel 5 stars. The Al Dente restaurant was great, good food selection even for my fussy eating son and the staff and management in here are great. Avoid D’whited if you can, more selection but not worth it. We went once for dinner, once for breakfast and that was enough. Parents just letting their kids wander around and fend for themselves wasn’t something I wanted to deal with. We ate at the Italian, Chinese and Podium restaurants. Podium was a let down unfortunately and we’d chosen that for my friend’s birthday as well. The Italian and Chinese were fantastic though! Cascade - this is were we ate breakfast and Mustafa (I think that was his name) makes some great eggs however you want them each day. Staff here were all really nice and couldn’t do enough for you. The Mexican is the really star at cascade though, the food was amazing and service first class and we even had the chef come out and make sure the food was good. The bar tenders in here are the best of the whole hotel, nicest people you’ll meet here. The beach is huge and plenty of sunbeds, main pool is a lot more crowded though, but luckily the new villas have their own pools. Ours was manned by Omar who looked after everyone and would have beds ready in the morning, another great guy who was very helpful throughout our stay. There was loads more I had planned on posting, but easier to point out that we’ll be heading back again in October. If we hadn’t had the issues with the room, then it would’ve been a 5 star review. Yes somethings could be better, but that’s the same in every hotel, the staff here though (expect one guy at reception) are fantastic and were a big part of the holiday being so good.
